Accessibility Information

Accessibility is Everyone’s Responsibility

Accessibility isn’t just the right thing to do, it’s also the law. Student Accessibility Services (SAS) staff are always available to answer questions and serve as a resource for faculty seeking assistance in providing accommodations to students. Contact us by emailing SAS@austincc.edu.

Faculty & Accessibility

The Austin Community College (ACC) Teaching and Learning Excellence Division (TLED) works with ACC Student Accessibility Services (SAS) to help all faculty keep updated on processes, resources, and services available to make their courses accessible for all students. Visit the Accessibility Information for ACC Faculty pages.

Student Accessibility Services (SAS)

Student Accessibility Services (SAS) provides reasonable, appropriate and effective classroom and testing accommodations to students with disabilities and offers support to faculty working with their students. Accommodations allow a student with a disability to effectively access the course material. Common accommodations may include:

    • Extended testing time
    • Note-taking support
    • Reader for tests
    • Scribing for exams
    • Captioning of media
    • Use of computer for essays
    • Alternative format of course material, textbooks, and tests

When Interpreter Services are required professors are notified before the semester.

Students who have been approved for accommodations must provide professors a Notice of Approved Accommodations (NAA) to receive the granted accommodations. Professors are legally required to provide only the accommodation listed on this form. Students requesting to alter accommodations must contact SAS.
